DPN 1988 vol. 8 - Dr. Spilman and Dr. Bravin comments 4 of 4
March 6, 1988
Mary Lou Novitsky interviews Phil Bravin and Jane Spilman in the hall way of the Mayflower hotel. Phil Bravin divulged that the board of trustees’ vote was 10-4, 10 for Zinser and 4 for the deaf candidate. Phil wanted to let others know what was the case, and in this place the majority prevailed. Jane Spilman mentioned that it is very necessary for everyone to understand that all of the board members voted in a way that they felt was the best and more qualified for Gallaudet, and that person is Elisabeth Zinser. Jane shares the reason why the board of trustees do not sign, its due to them being idiots. Jane Spilman gives excuses on the reason why most of the board of trustees do not know sign language.
